I have an obsession with handmade functional pottery (although in my case, “obsession” feels like a bit of an understatement). But my love for pottery has always emanated from a philosophy of use: I buy pieces not just to look at them but also because I envision that they’ll bring joy and beauty and warmth and reflection to my daily routines. A mug is not just a mug; it’s an object into which someone has channeled received wisdom, careful consideration, personal ideas about form and surface, purpose and function—not to mention hours of manual labor.
I’m now at the point, though, where I’ve collected so many pots that not all of them are getting as much use as they once did. That’s where the idea for this shop came from. I started with the desire to pass my collected pots on to better homes, and from there I realized I like introducing people to pottery. If you don’t know where to start, I’m here to help.
